Also, from the configuration, (choice of dimensions, colours) to the assembly of your furniture, everything is do-it-yourself. But how does it work? What resources have been put in place to give you the best possible support? Here's Catherine's account of her experience, from start to finish. Read her article here.

Step 1: configuring her made-to-measure furniture 

Choosing a new piece of furniture came up during the renovation of her son's bedroom. She needed a new cupboard that would hold all his belongings: not just clothes but toys and various care products too. She therefore decided to opt for a made-to-measure solution, as this allowed her tochoose all the fittings to ensure an optimised closet.Use our configurator to design your made-to-measure wardrobe: first you define the dimensions, then the fittings, in this case adjustable shelves for skincare products, a drawer for underwear, a sliding shelf for trousers and above that a hanging space for jackets. The big plus: being able to hide these different elements behind full-height doors, thanks to hardware elements that only DessineTonMeuble offers. 

An equally decisive choice for her furniture: the colours. She chose "Arbre Nordique Blanc", a top-of-the-range textured white to create a Scandinavian atmosphere in the room. Finally, she decided not to use the handles in our catalogue in order to customise her furniture later.

Step 2: receiving the furniture at home 

Once the order has been validated by our team of technicians, it goes into production. It takes6 weeks for delivery. Before leaving the factory, the furniture is checked from A to Z with pre-assembly. Packaged in a wooden crate, it isperfectly protected and then arrives at Catherine's home in good condition. She can then take a drill and screwdriver to open the parcel and then transport the filmed bundles of boards to her son's bedroom. 

Step 3: assembling the furniture, a fun and simple experience

Once the boards have been assembled in the room and de-filmed, we move on to the assembly. 

Catherine received the associated assembly instructions by email a few days before her furniture. This is a 3D instruction specific to her furniture to assemble her furniture step by step, for a fun and easy assembly. What's more, the instructions are sent by email to avoid wasting any paper.

Catherine found the interactive instructions very fun and the explanations clear. She described the assembly of her cupboard as simple. She notes that it was easy to assemble the elements together, a very pleasant construction especially as it was done without an electric screwdriver. The assembly process went smoothly, although she stressed the need for two people to lift the furniture, given its weight and size, to avoid damaging it.

Step 4: assessing the furniture and the final result

Once the furniture has been assembled, all you have to do is complete it by storing your things in it. We can finally get afinal glimpse of its design. Imagined, then designed on our configurator, the piece of furniture is in her home 6 weeks later, exactly as she wanted it.

Catherine notes the good quality of the materials, and the beautiful finishes: edge veneer, material finishes, applied doors... She finds that the storage capacity of her new cupboard has doubled compared to the previous one, which was wider but a little lower in height : this is due to the millimetre-accurate fit, which allows all the fittings to be placed at the right heights depending on the type of belongings to be stored. This is a decisive point, if you know exactly what stuff you need to store in your bespoke piece of furniture, then it's even easier to optimise your storage space!"
