Catherine, editor of the Carnet Déco blog, asked us to help her renovate her son's bedroom. Children grow up, and it's important to adapt their environment to this evolution. For this new bedroom, the theme chosen is Scandinavian.
You'll find a video showcasing our made-to-measure wardrobe:
First step: redoing the paint on the wall, which is ageing badly. Catherine then opted for pastel green, turquoise blue and white, colours that are very trendy at the moment and very suitable for a child's bedroom: they call for calm and serenity.
Then, for the widest wall, she chose an "enchanted forest" wallpaper that brings the bedroom to life, while adding an original and soothing touch.
Once the walls have been redone, the next step is to think about the bedroom layout: which pieces of furniture to throw away, keep or renovate. In Catherine's case, the bed, bedside table and desk were still in good condition and fitted in perfectly with the new ambience, as the bed was made of wood and the desk had Scandinavian-style legs. They were therefore kept intact.
As for the chest of drawers, it was repainted a bright turquoise blue to bring a colourful note to the bedroom as a whole.
Finally, the wardrobe for its part was banished and replaced by a new bespoke piece of furniture: less high but wider with interior fittings completely adapted to her son's needs. He needed storage: for his skincare products, toys and board games, but also for his clothes. Catherine made this new piece of furniture in Textured White, a high-quality white wood, to match the mood of the room.
Once the room has been repainted and refitted, all you have to do is spruce it up with little decorative touches. Catherine chose posters with wood and gold frames, a midnight blue clock, and a light wood wall shelf to install small decorative objects above the desk.
