Furnishing a sloped ceiling space or the area beneath a staircase is an excellent way to optimize every available square meter. To achieve a perfectly tailored fit, precise measurement is a crucial step.
Before thinking about the furniture, measure the available space, not the future piece of furniture itself.
Take your measurements in three different positions across the entire depth (at the front, middle, and back) of the desired installation.
These three measurements are essential as walls are rarely perfectly straight.
- Measure from the left wall to the right wall at the front, middle, and back (in orange).
⚠️ Do NOT measure from skirting board to skirting board, as this could distort the slope calculation.
- Measure from floor to ceiling at the front, middle, and back (in blue).
- Anticipate and measure the height and depth of all skirting boards at several points.
Once all measurements are taken, always keep the smallest values for height and width.
Why? Because this ensures your furniture will fit seamlessly in the dedicated space, even if the walls aren’t perfectly straight.

We recommend adding at least 10 mm of clearance wherever needed.
Why?
Walls are rarely perfectly straight.
We also recommend opting for a base equipped with clip-on skirting boards and adjustable feet. This lets you fine-tune the furniture’s height and compensate for any irregularities in the floor or slope.
We advise adding 5 mm to your base’s height to provide clearance for your rear skirting board.
For a seamless, professional finish between your furniture and the staircase, we recommend letting the doors overhang slightly upwards so they cover the stringer of the stairs.
